Legal Counsel / Legal Manager

About the role

CareerHike is looking for a practical, responsible Legal Counsel to manage the company’s legal matters, employment disputes, contractual documentation, legal notices and coordination of ongoing litigation.

Key responsibilities

• Review and manage existing civil, commercial, employment-related and other legal disputes.
• Coordinate with external advocates, courts, and relevant government departments where required.
• Draft and review legal notices, replies, settlement agreements, employment contracts, NDAs and repayment undertakings.
• Assess employee-related disputes involving salary, incentives, admission cancellations and contractual recovery.
• Maintain a confidential case register with deadlines, next hearings, evidence, legal expenses and action items.
• Review company policies, HR documentation and business agreements for legal risks.
• Advise management on dispute-resolution options, settlement prospects and litigation costs.
• Ensure that company communications and recovery efforts remain lawful and evidence-based.
• Provide periodic written legal-risk and case-status reports to management.

Eligibility

• LL.B. from a recognised university.
• 3–5 years of relevant post-qualification legal experience.
• Practical experience with legal drafting, litigation strategy and employment or commercial disputes.
• Strong research, negotiation, documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while recognising when specialist counsel is necessary.

Preferred experience

• Employment and labour disputes.
• Civil recovery and contractual litigation.
• Criminal complaint defence, where relevant.
• In-house legal work at a startup, SME or growing company.
