NEET 2026 Marks vs Rank vs College
Expected All India Rank and realistic college options by score band
| Marks | Expected AIR | Percentile | Realistic Options |
|---|---|---|---|
| 700+ | 1–280 | 99.98th+ | AIIMS New Delhi, MAMC, top-tier central AIIMS |
| 680–699 | 280–2,750 | 99.88th+ | VMMC, LHMC, JIPMER, top state government colleges |
| 650–679 | 2,750–17,900 | 99.21st+ | KGMU Lucknow, Seth GS Mumbai, periphery AIIMS |
| 620–649 | 17,900–55,100 | 97.58th+ | Good state govt MBBS colleges via 85% domicile quota |
| 590–619 | 55,100–1,20,400 | 94.72nd+ | Borderline for govt MBBS in high-cutoff states; safe for govt BDS/BAMS |
| 550–589 | 1,20,400–2,61,500 | 88.53rd+ | Govt MBBS in low-cutoff states; top deemed universities; private MBBS |
| 450–549 | 2,61,500–9,03,000 | 60.39th+ | Private medical colleges, leading deemed colleges, management seats |
| 140–449 | 9,03,000–16,33,000 | 50th–60th | Qualifying band; private BDS/BAMS; eligibility for paid deemed seats |
AI estimates based on 2021–2025 NTA marks-vs-rank data, adjusted for the 2026 re-exam. Rank compression between 580–650 marks is very high. A 5–10 mark difference can shift thousands of ranks, so counselling strategy matters as much as your score.
NEET 2026 Safe Score for Government MBBS (Category-Wise)
Minimum marks for a ~90% chance of a government MBBS seat
| Category | AIQ (15%) | State Quota (85%) |
|---|---|---|
| General | 620–650+ | 580–630+ |
| EWS | 610–640+ | 570–620+ |
| OBC | 600–630+ | 560–610+ |
| SC | 520–550+ | 470–530+ |
| ST | 490–520+ | 440–500+ |
Qualifying NEET and getting an MBBS seat are different things. Qualifying only makes you eligible for counselling. The "safe score" bridges that gap. Source: 2025 MCC closing ranks + state quota trends.
Qualifying Cutoff vs Admission Cutoff
The single most misunderstood thing about NEET
Qualifying cutoff is the minimum percentile set by NTA just to be eligible for counselling. For General category that is the 50th percentile, roughly 140–162 marks. Clearing it does not get you a seat.
Admission cutoff is the actual closing rank at which a seat is allotted in a specific college during counselling. For a government MBBS seat, the General-category admission cutoff is around 600+ marks, far above the qualifying mark. This gap is why a student can "qualify NEET" yet still not get a government seat.
| Category | Qualifying Percentile | Approx Marks |
|---|---|---|
| General | 50th percentile | 140–162 |
| EWS | 50th percentile | 138–158 |
| OBC | 40th percentile | 118–137 |
| SC | 40th percentile | 98–118 |
| ST | 40th percentile | 93–113 |
| PwBD (General) | 45th percentile | 128–148 |
| PwBD (Reserved) | 40th percentile | 93–113 |
Qualifying percentiles are fixed by policy and stable year to year. The marks that map to them shift with paper difficulty. Source: NTA NEET 2025 qualifying data.

AIQ vs State Quota: What's the Difference?
Understand both routes to maximise your seat chances
| All India Quota | State Quota | |
|---|---|---|
| Seat Split | 15% seats in every state govt college | 85% remaining seats in home-state colleges |
| Eligibility | Open to all Indian students equally | Only for candidates with local state domicile |
| Conducted By | MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) | Respective State Education Authority |
| Cutoff Level | Higher cutoffs due to national competition | Lower cutoffs; helpful for low-score entries |
| Reservation | Central rules (OBC 27%, SC 15%, ST 7.5%) | Varies heavily by state reservation matrix |
NEET 2026 State Quota Cutoff (Expected, by State)
Approx General-category marks for state-quota government MBBS
| State | Expected Marks | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rajasthan | 615–625 | Highest cutoffs due to extreme local student concentration |
| Delhi | 620–635 | Extremely low seat pool relative to massive elite applicant counts |
| Uttar Pradesh | 605–615 | Intense competition but buffered by recent state expansion programs |
| Haryana | 605–615 | High cutoffs; strict multi-year institutional service bonds apply |
| Bihar | 600–612 | Fierce competition; limited private backup options available |
| Kerala | 610–620 | Very high local qualifying averages across regular state boards |
| Maharashtra | 580–595 | Favourable ratios due to abundant institutional infrastructure |
| Madhya Pradesh | 565–580 | Strict domicile rules keep outside competition completely out |
| Gujarat | 575–590 | High reservation splits leave fewer free-floating unreserved seats |
| Karnataka | 560–575 | Abundant open seats lower cutoffs across institutional metrics |
| Tamil Nadu | 565–580 | High structural retention keeps local applicants inside state options |
| West Bengal | 570–585 | Moderate balances across urban vs regional seat placements |
State-quota cutoffs run roughly 50–60 marks below AIQ and are computed on state rank, not All India Rank. Reserved categories close lower. Figures are expected ranges for the 2026 re-exam, not official cutoffs.

Frequently Asked Questions
NEET UG 2026 college prediction, cutoffs & counselling
How accurate is the NEET UG 2026 College Predictor?
The predictor is trained on five years of official NTA results and MCC counselling data (2021–2025). It gives a closing-rank range and admission-chance rating rather than a single guaranteed number, because actual 2026 cutoffs depend on paper difficulty and the final all-India score distribution.
What is the difference between Safe, Good, Borderline, and Longshot ratings?
Safe means your predicted rank comfortably clears a college's expected 2026 closing rank. Good means it should clear in most rounds. Borderline means it depends on your category, state quota, and how many rounds run. Longshot means the college is unlikely to close in your rank range this year.
Does this predictor cover State Quota or only All India Quota (AIQ)?
It covers both. AIQ is 15% of seats in every state government college and is open to all candidates nationally. State quota is the remaining 85%, reserved for candidates with local domicile, and usually closes 30,000–80,000 ranks earlier than AIQ.
Do I need to sign up or share my phone number to see results?
No. You can enter your score, category, and home state and see your predicted rank and college list immediately, with no sign-up required.
Can I predict choices for BDS and BAMS courses too?
Yes. Alongside MBBS, the predictor covers BDS and BAMS, since many candidates in the qualifying and mid-score bands end up choosing between government BDS/BAMS and private MBBS.
What should I do if my score is rated as a Longshot for all government colleges?
Review the private and deemed MBBS options and government BDS/BAMS colleges your score does support, and also register for state quota separately, since it often opens seats your AIQ rank would miss. If none of these fit, it is worth exploring alternate routes such as online degrees or a repeat attempt.
